Master Lawyer Kylee A. TOKOI

Kylee Tokoi represents clients in family law matters, including divorce, paternity, child custody, child support, spousal support, and guardianship, and prepares and advises clients regarding prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. Kylee also assists parents, grandparents, and other interested parties in cases involving children in need of care (CINC) and defends juveniles accused of delinquent acts under the Kansas Juvenile Justice Code.As a teenager, Kylee witnessed a lawyer help a family member through a difficult time in their life. This experience inspired Kylee to pursue a legal career so that she could help others during crucial times in their lives. Kylee, a strategic problem-solver and passionate attorney, found her calling in family law and juvenile criminal defense. In each case, she strives to provide clarity about her clients' current situations and the support they need to achieve their future goals.Before joining JHC, Kylee interned and later worked as a Deputy District Attorney at the Douglas County District Attorney's office, where she handled juvenile delinquency and CINC cases. As a Deputy District Attorney, Kylee created two new diversion programs for juveniles and drafted a memorandum of understanding for absenteeism prevention services. The protocol, which now serves as a statewide model for other counties, aims to provide children and families with services to prevent unnecessary court involvement while bridging communication gaps among essential partners within the child welfare system.
